Trump has answered the call for more protections for religious freedoms this week at the United Nations General Assembly. many are saying this is serving as a centerpiece for his entire visit.
Trump has dedicated 25 million in the effort to protect religious freedoms as well as sites and relics that have significance. He also mentioned that US corporations would be adding to the effort. Trump said that it was sad that this wasn’t made a top priority of other administrations.
Trump, always the one to point the finger in a way, but also unite, called upon all world leaders to lead the way to end the persecution of religious practices around the world. In a world that is quickly becoming more secular, this is a breath of fresh air. Trump said. “Release prisoners of conscience. Repeal laws restricting freedom of religion and belief. Protect the vulnerable, the defenseless, and the oppressed.”
Trump did not mince words when he called upon every world leader to stop the brutal practice of persecuting people based on what religion they follow. He wants all world leaders to honor everyone’s right to follow God and to “follow their conscience, live by their faith, and give glory to God.”
Andrew Brunson was also in attendance, who was imprisoned in Turkey for the crime of being a christian, and distributing christian literature. He was in Turkey for two years and was released after Trump demanded his release.
In this age of increasing secular materialism, it is nice to have a president who is looking out for Constitutional rights including one of the most important. The freedom of religion.
